Heels to Flats

As a little girl, my dad nicknamed me Grace. Not because I was graceful…well, because, I was the exact opposite of what they define as graceful. Therefore as you can imagine me + heels is NOT a good combination. You would think that being only 5'1, heels would be my best friend, but in reality they are my worst nightmare. I love the way they look, but for some reason I just cannot seem to master the technique of walking in them properly.

When I attempt to wear heels, it is a true comedy. I mean truly someone should pull out a video camera the next time I attempt to walk in heels. I would probably be a youtube sensation. The next Sophia Grace and Rosie if you ask me.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the way heels look. They are sophisticated, powerful, and make you taller (bonus!). Everything you would think a vertically challenged girl would love. But, just to stay on the safe side and avoid full blow humiliation, I stick to my flats. I feel more comfortable in them and I don’t have to worry about falling on my face.

I think in many cases you can get the same look in flats as you can in heels. You just have to be willing to search for the right pair of flats that are equally comfortable and cute. Not only that but, I think flats are way more practical. Especially for a high school girl. I mean walking from class to class rushing to beat the bell in heels would be a joke.

Have you mastered the heel walking technique? If so please feel free to share your secrets with me!

Always remember,

  1. Try platforms. They are great for heel challenged people such as I. Much more sturdy and comfortable
