Dorm Room Ideas

Fun fact: when I was younger I thought I wanted to be an interior designer. I used to watch hours of HGTV and then find floor plans online of our families dream house and plan out each room and then present them to my mom. My dream slowly transformed into wanting to be an architect. I specifically remember long car rides taking a pad of paper and designing super crazy floor plans of houses that contained lazy rivers and water slides and lots of secret doorways. Long story short, my dream has evolved again.

Today, there is no way I could be an interior designer. I am far from a professional, however I think it’s really fun to do on the side. I dream about owning my own apartment someday and decorating it exactly how I want. I loved planning out my dorm room last year and this year I’m shooting for a more simplistic look! We’ll see how it goes.

Sometimes it’s hard to get inspired to decorate such a little space. This year my dorm room is even smaller than last year ( I know right?!). It’s a challenging space because it’s such an awkward layout. I struggled with ideas and color schemes I wanted to go for this year while incorporating most of the stuff I used last year so as not to break the bank. I decided to create some dorm room color schemes that I’m loving right now to help inspire you!

I hope this helps you inspire you for your own dorm room!

What color scheme do you think I'll go with?

Weekend Wishlist

These weekend post have started to become some of my favorite to write! I love getting everything together that I’ve had my eye on all week and finally close those tabs. These posts are kind of like a mental note for me because once I find something online I can never bring myself to close the tab for fear that I’ll forget about it (which would probably be a good thing). But now with these posts, I can look back and remember where something is from and what it was again that I loved so much!

What are your weekend plans?

Always,

xoxo

Giveaway || Caroline Dawn Seersucker Skirt

As you can imagine, North Carolina + summer= a sweaty sticky mess. The humidity is unreal and the heat is almost unbearable. Most mornings consist of me standing in my closet asking myself what will I sweat the least in. I usually ended up wearing some kind of skirt or dress because they tend to be the most comfy in such warm weather!

When Caroline contacted me about collaborating, I was over the moon excited! I love her creations and I was flattered she wanted to work with me. She has so many great products on her website but one of my favorites is the Callie skirt, of course I picked the blue seersucker (shocker, right?).

The idea behind Caroline Dawn came from a problem that Caroline and tons of other girls were facing of not being able to find clothes outside of the kids section that fit properly. Being only 5’1, I have to get  practically everything tailored and hemmed (I currently have a pile of clothes in my room waiting to go to the tailor now) so it was nice to receive something in the mail that I didn’t have take to the tailor before I wore it! Caroline created so many super adorable patterns for her skirts and shorts as well as a whole new size chart that included a new size so that petite girls would have a new option.

The most impressive part? Caroline is still in college! She goes to Wofford, which is right down the road from Furman!

Whoops...

College Packing List: Update

As people start to round up their things for the school year, I thought this would be the perfect post! My first college packing list post was super popular. So I thought I would update it, add a few things/ delete a few things. Now that I’ve spent a year living in a dorm room, I feel like I have a better understanding of what I’m actually going to use and what’s just going to sit in a drawer in my desk.

I think the absolute most important thing in a dorm room is to be organized. Since the space is so small when you’re room is messy it’s 10x worse than having a messy room at home. For me, it’s so much easier to stay organized and neat at school in comparison to home because I’m confined to such a small space. And that tiny space acts my bedroom, living room, kitchen, and dining room. So there’s no where to spread your stuff all over.

My roommate and I last year were actually pretty impressed by ourselves by how clean we were able to keep our room. We would walk down the hallway and peek into our hall-mates rooms when their doors were open and it would make us feel pretty great about ourselves when everyone else had a layer of clothes on the floor. For some reason, our room also ended up always being our friend group’s meeting spot. So we were always having movie nights or celebrating someone’s birthday in there.

This coming year I’m super psyched because I’ll be living on my sorority hall with tons of my sisters from my pledge class. Hello late night chats and study parties. I know it’s going to make for an amazing sophomore year and I can’t wait to move back in and be surrounded by my sisters! (Ahh just writing about it makes me so ready for new adventures!)

So start saving those bed bath and beyond coupons because I promise you’re going to need them! And make sure you bookmark this post so that when you start your packing you can reference this list!

Comment and tell me if you think I forgot anything off the list!

Keep in mind,

xoxo

People watching is one of my favorite past times. I love going to the mall, the park, or a concert (the best place in my opinion) and just sitting back and observing everyone. It’s weird how much you can learn about a person through little behaviors.

It’s like everyone always talks about how different a friendship becomes once you live with someone. Then you see their real colors.
