20th Birthday + Charleston

Shannon are you there?

You may have asked yourself in the past couple weeks where the heck I have been and why I haven’t posted a blog post in over a week and a half?! Well the end of the school year hit hard and just like the every other semester, finals snuck up on me and before I knew it I was overwhelmed with 2 finals, a project, a 20 page paper, MY 20TH BIRTHDAY (!!!), painting a cooler, a fraternity formal, and lots of last minute paper work to finalize my summer internship (more details soon), May in Italy, and my semester abroad in the fall!

My 20th birthday was Thursday the 23rd and I was awoken at promptly 4:30 in the morning by some of my best friends (who had been planning all of this) and told me to quickly get dressed because we had someplace to go.

What I didn’t know is that we were going Pretty Place, a spot only about 45 minutes from campus high in the mountains where you get an amazing view of the sunrise. I have always wanted to go and with lots of people studying abroad next year this was one of our last chances to go all together!

We got there in plenty of time for the sunrise and brought lots of blankets to wrap ourselves in. We got to watch the sun rise pop up from behind the mountains and luckily it was a gorgeous sunrise. I couldn’t have asked for a better start to my 20th birthday!

My friend Emory made this video so we could always remember this fun memory from Sophomore year! (Plus you get to see what I look like when I'm woken up at 4:30 in the morning!)

The day after my birthday on the 24th, we headed down to Charleston for Emory’s fraternity formal. Even though it down poured on us and we got soaking wet on Saturday the weather cleared up after lunch and we were able to walk around downtown and along the battery!

That night was the actual formal and we had a blast dancing the night away. It was nice to get away from campus for a few nights and escape the realities of exams, projects, and papers. Sunday was back to reality and we had our last day of classes last Tuesday and then finals started on Thursday. I only have one more left and I’ll be outta here and home bound by tomorrow afternoon.

Another fun video that highlights our trip!!

Usually I feel ready for a break and ready to end classes and all the work that comes with them. However, this year feels different. I won’t be back until  January and it’s so sad to say bye to all my friends and the campus that I love so much. I know super exciting times are on the horizon though and I can’t wait to see what adventures are in store for me next semester.

I am headed home tomorrow (Tuesday) after my last exam and then I'll be home for a little over a week and then headed to Italy! In Italy, we are heading to Florence, Venice, Rome, and the Amalfi Coast! We have a few free days in each city so if you have any suggestions about your favorite places in those cities I would love to hear! Be sure to email me!

Remember,

xoxo

Shannon
