2nd Semester Sophomore Year Reflection

I look back at the second semester of my sophomore year and I swear it was January yesterday. I’m a little bit nervous knowing that I have only 2 years left, because I’m not sure if any other semesters are going to be able beat the 2nd semester sophomore year.

Living with Emilee for a second year in a row, and then on top of it having 2 of my other closest friends living 2 steps across the hall (not exaggerating) and all my other pledge class sisters within 10 steps on the same hall was the perfect recipe for a fantastic semester. To top it off,  I have started to get into a lot the classes required for my communication major so I’m really starting to enjoy my classes (with the exception of maybe one  )

These semester reflections (read first semester here) are some of my favorite to do simply for my sake because I love looking back and going through all my photos from the past few months. It  reminds me of all the little moments (and big ones) that really made this semester special.

Bid day! Bid day was a blast and it was fun to be on the other side of the Rush process rather than actually rushing myself. It was only about a week after we came back from Christmas break so it was the perfect way to start the semester off with a bang! We welcomed so many sweet freshman girls who are the perfect addition in every way <3

I may or may not have had my eye on little Mary since the beginning of first semester. She is the perfect little in every way and I was so excited to reveal myself to her after a week of keeping my identity a secret!

The exceptional Valentines day dance: One of my favorite memories from sophomore year. Every year Furman brings in exceptional adults and we hold a huge valentines dance and any student can come and dance (and eat) and celebrate this holiday!

P.S. Add me on snapchat: Shannon.hessen
IT SNOWED: More than once too! We had a few snow days off of school this year. They’re always something to look forward to in the spring semester. The campus becomes a winter wonderland and I feel like I’m walking around a little snow globe.

Initiation: Nothing beats initiating your little into such a special sisterhood. I’m so proud to officially call Mary my little and can’t wait to see how our relationship grows!

Mardi Gras Ball! Another school sponsored event that was held downtown Greenville (one of the cutest downtowns ever) we decided to go! Such a fun night!

I learned to use a power tool (or two) for an art project. Monumental moment in my college career if you ask me.

The roomie came home with me to celebrate Easter for the second year in a row! I think we must make it a tradition now Em!

May or may not have gone up to the top of the belltower. Oh the story….

I was a real college student once or twice

Explored where our new apartment will be for next year! I can’t wait to come back in the Spring after my semester abroad and live with some of my favorite people!

My fabulous Monday, Wednesday, Friday lunch crew on a letter day. The amount of laughs we shared during that hour are too many to count.

The Sam Hunt Concert! Every year Furman brings a big concert to campus and this year it was country music star Sam Hunt. Although I didn’t get to touch his hand (like I did last year at the Brett Eldridge concert) it was still super fun and I was 2nd row!

Probably my all time favorite memory from sophomore year. Because who wouldn’t want to be woken up at 4:45 on the morning of their 20th birthday to go watch the sun rise in the mountains?! To see what I look like when I get woken up at this ungodly time watch this video.

Made my 2nd fraternity cooler of my college career.

Attended my good friend Emory’s fraternity formal in Charleston! Even though we got drenched in a rain storm Saturday the entire weekend was perfect! Who wouldn’t want to spend a weekend in Charleston?

Ended the year with a trip downtown with 3 of my closest friends to the farmers market!

What were your favorite memories of the school year? Sorry for the picture overload!

  1. Aww it looks like your sophomore year was filled with plenty of wonderful memories!

  2. Seems like you had a great year, Shannon! Loved seeing all your pictures!
