I’m officially over halfway down with my Italy trip! If you’ve been following along on Instagram or snapchat (shannon.hessen) you’ve probably seen glimpses into my journey!
We started out our journey on the Amalfi Coast then took a day trip to Pompeii. We next headed to Naples, followed by Rome, and we are now in Florence for the next few days! Next (and our last stop on the trip) is Venice.
It’s has been so much fun exploring so much of this country and really immersing myself into the Italian culture. I don’t think I’ve eaten so much pizza, pasta, bread in my entire life. I truly think I’m going to come back with an extra 10 pounds.
I’m traveling with a group of Furman students and professors and we have multiple lectures and assignments per city. I’m learning so much and meeting so many great people! However I will be honest and say that I’m looking forward to getting to Paris, settling into a schedule, unpacking from a suitcase, and hopefully having some reliable wifi.
I thought it would be fun to show you some pictures that I’ve taken so far!

Day trip to Pompeii!
The start of our Rome stay!
Trevi Fountain was a must even if it was under construction!
And of course the Coliseum...
The ancient forum!
Wandering through the side streets of Rome!
Craziest experience ever....driving a vespa on the busiest streets of Rome. Not sure if it was one of our best decisions but it was definitely fun and I totally got the hang of it! Totally worth the memories!
I'm looking forward explore Florence and then move onto Venice! We've been in Florence for 2 nights now and I'm already loving it!
