I really do try to keep up with my email. I really do.

It’s just sometimes life simply gets in the way and my inbox gets put on the back burner. I try to answer every email I get from all of you (I love love love getting emails from readers!) within a week. However, sometimes I miss my goal. For instance, when I was in Italy, wifi was practically nonexistent so emails sat waiting to be answered until I made it here to Paris where my wifi is a little more dependable.

A lot of the emails ask the same questions so I thought I would provide answers to the most frequent questions I get all in one post to help answer some of those questions!

Alright, let’s get down to business:

1.    Where is your desk hutch featured in your freshman and sophomore year dorm room from?

The Container Store! It just came back into stock and I highly highly suggest it. It saved so much space and provided so much shelving!

See what it looked like here and here

2.    What are you doing this summer?

I visited Italy for the month of May with my school taking a class for 2 ½ weeks! From then I flew to Paris to start my internship, I head back home the end of July!

3.    Thoughts/ Opinions on your sorority experience:

Definitely not for everyone, and I think you need to find the right organization. I also think the Greek community is very different depending on the school. Furman’s Greek community and rush system is pretty relaxed and we don’t rush until January! I have absolutely loved my experience in Tridelt and have become close with some girls I know I’ll be friends with forever. I suggest doing some research on what Greek life is like at your school and then decide if it’s for you or not!

4.    I’m starting a blog, advice:

Go for it, 100%. I always tell new bloggers though to make sure they’re doing it for the right reasons. It takes a lot of time and hard work and if you don’t do it for the right reasons, it will start to feel like a job vs. something fun! Write about what your passionate about and don’t pretend to be someone you’re not. I have learned so much through blogging and never in a million years did I ever think it would turn into what it is today!

So to those of you who are considering starting a blog, I say go for it. What do you have to lose?

5.    High School Advice

Like everything else in your life, high school is what you make it. So make it 4 years worth remembering! I had my ups and down in high school and I moved right before my junior year. With the exception of some difficulty when I moved, I really did enjoy high school. I was involved in numerous clubs outside the classroom and got to know some of my best friends on the tennis court and lacrosse field. I went to Friday night football games and fun fact, in my first high school I was also manager/ stat taker of the football, basketball, and baseball team! As much as I enjoy college, there’s something so special about high school that most people don’t appreciate when they’re there.

6.    Where did you buy your Bedding?

7.    What’s my major?

I’m a communication major!

8.    Where do I see myself in 5 years?

I have all these plans in my mind where I want to be after graduation, but I know plans will probably change maybe even shift to allow something even better to come along! Currently, I think I would want to move to a city after I graduate. I love fashion as well as digital communications and the marketing/advertising fields so I would love to find a job to combine those two passions! Luckily, I still have 2 years to until I have to face the reality of the real world!

9.    Sophomore Year Headboard

My dad and I made it! Super super easy too! We bought insulation board (like thick foam board) from lowes and then drew the shape we wanted and used a razor blade to cut it into the shape! I covered it in batting and used a staple gun to hold it down and then placed the fabric on top of the batting and also used a staple gun to secure it!

10. Where does the name “Prep Avenue” come from?

That’s a great question and one I wish I had a more creative answer for. There’s no real significance behind it. I knew I wanted to start a blog and I already had posts written and I was just waiting to come up with a name! I finally got so frustrated that the only thing holding me back was a name! I kinda settled with Prep Avenue and have come to love it!

In my world, this is what Prep Avenue looks like:

11. How did I go about getting internships?

Lots of research, applications, interviews, and a whole lot of prayers! Internships can really give your resume a big boost and provide you with so much real-world experience! I couldn’t recommend them more. My Moon and Lola internship last summer was perfect because it was in my home town so I was able to live at home and not have to worry about any housing expenses! Looking for something local, whether it’s with a well known company or a up and coming shop, no experience is bad experience! If you end up hating it, at least you know what you don’t want to do when you’re older!

13. College Applications

Honestly nothing is going to make college applications fun. They’re a pain and annoying and the last thing you want to spend your free time doing as a senior in high school. But trust me when I say they’re worth it. College rocks.

I’ve done numerous college application/ college process posts that could help!
