Dance Party of 2

I’ve talked about how great my roommate is before. Well a lot of nights as Em and I are finishing up our homework for the night we’ll take turns playing fun throwback songs. We’ll go back and forth taking turns that remind of our childhood in the late 90s and early 2000s. Most nights it turns into a dance party of 2 and instead of going to bed we’ll be up singing our hearts out and dancing (embarrassingly) around our teeny tiny dorm room. Our poor next door neighbors.  Our poor snap chat friends. It’s really a sight to see.

I remember drama filled high school dances, the extremely awkward middle school dances, and how can you forget the holiday themed elementary school dances?! I also remember having the most fun at the dances where I was completely myself and danced like a complete fool with a group of friends because I didn’t care what anyone else thought. Those were the best dances. That’s what it’s like when em and I are dancing around in our pjs at 1:30 in the morning. It’s a complete judgment free zone.

Anyway I thought I would share with you some super fun throwback songs that are perfect dance party songs that are often played during these spontaneous dance parties!

What are your favorite throwback dance songs?

Not just for boys...

I have two brothers and although one is 3 years younger than me and the other 6, they are both officially taller than me. It painful for me to write that. I guess it was only a matter of time but it’s still pains me to admit that now every single member of my family is at least 2 inches taller than me. Because both of my brothers are still growing, everytime I go home I always dig through their closets to see what they have outgrown. Most of the time I end up begging one of them for something and trying to convince them it doesn't fit them so I can take it back to school with me.

Vineyard vines shep shirt? I’ll take it! Oversized button down? Hand it over! Southern tide t-shirts? That’s a no brainer!

Most of the time we walk into the women’s section of a store and never even glance in the men’s section. There are so many things in the men’s section though that can easily turn into one of your wardrobe favorites. My favorite men’s purchase? This jacket that I found on the men’s clearance rack at the J. Crew factory store and then I got it monogrammed! Sometimes it’s worth taking a peak into the men’s side before you leave!

Some of my favorites:

Cozy and Comfy for Class

Although it may not seem like it, I definitely don’t look presentable everyday. I strongly believe in the power of fleece lined (and regular) leggings. When you’re staying up late and practically running on caffeine it’s impossible to wear pants with buttons every single day to class. It’s just not realistic. So here are the staples for when you have hit that exhaustion mark and just can’t seem to pull an outfit together. For me I have usually hit that mark by Thursday!

…don’t worry we all have those days.

What are your go to items for days when you want to be comfy?!

Sleepover Every Night

There are honestly some days where I’m in love with college. Don’t get me wrong, there are also days when I’m ready to book a one way ticket to NYC and find a job. But, every once in awhile you have those really good days and it just makes you love where you are in life. College is fun. I live on a hall with some of my absolute best friends and it honestly is like a really great sleepover every single night.

I learned quickly living on a hall with all my sorority sisters that it was a terrible place to be productive. When you put all 41 girls from my pledge class together the last thing we are going to be is productive. I come back from the library most nights and without a doubt there is almost always a group of girls doing something fun (occasionally this includes roller blading up and down the hall....shhhh!). I leave the library absolutely exhausted from the day ready to go back, shower, and climb into bed. Without fail, instead I end up surrounded by great friends, cramped in a tiny dorm room, laughing my head off way too late.

It’s something that takes time to get used to. At first college can be overwhelming and a lot of people have a hard time managing their time. It's also hard to get used to having very little alone time. However some of these little moments that happen everyday are going to be your favorite moments of college. Like when we had a silly string fight in my dorm room freshman year, or when we crammed 12 people in my room to have a movie marathon on a snow day.

College takes time to adjust to. For me, it probably took the whole first semester to realize just how much college rocked. But by the time I came home over Christmas break my freshman year, I realized just how much I missed having my friends literally 3 steps away. I often take it for granted; these small memories we’re making everyday. It’s a special time in my life and there’s probably not going to be another time in my life where I live within steps of all my best friends. I’m going to miss the chaos that happens when everyone is getting ready for formals and functions and I’m gong to miss girls walking up and down the hall yelling to see if anyone has a black heel in a size 8.

College really is a sleepover every night. That hall community is so special and something so easy to take advantage of in your day to day life. It’s when I go home that I realize just how much I miss it. I hate having no one to talk to about my day as I fall asleep and I hate how quiet it is. College makes me never want to be alone!

So whether you’re a sophomore living on a great hall like me, or a senior in high school preparing to go to college, remember to cherish these moments. Anyways, we only get 4 years here, might as well make them memorable!

Valentine's Day Gifts for Friends

Who says Valentine’s day has to be about a significant other?! In my book it’s a day to celebrate pink, hearts, and LOVE. Who says you can’t tell your best friends how much you love and care about them?!

It’s always nice reminding the people you love the most (like your best friends) how much you are thankful for their friendship on this day. One way of doing this is giving them a simple sweet note on a Valentine’s Day card. But if you want to give them a little present here are some cute options that would be perfect to give close friends!
