Just the Best Phone Case Ever

I usually pick a phone case and stick with it for a while. I'm not typically someone who constantly changes their case depending on the day. I really loved my old phone case (it was Kate Spade!) but when I discovered these new Jimmy Cases I was instantly in love! I saw that another blogger had talked about them before and I couldn't decide if I wanted to make the change. But when the Jimmy Case company reached out to me seemed like a sign!!

The past 3 years I have carried around a super small mini kate spade wallet that I attach my keys to as well as use it to hold my student ID card. However, I can't tell you the number of times I have called my mom sobbing because I can't find my student ID or in a sheer panic because I accidentally set it down somewhere. With this new case it holds my ID perfectly and this way I never have to worry about it falling out of my wallet (happened once) or randomly setting it down somewhere because I don't have my wallet with me.

The stretchy pocket on the back is super tight and ensures that nothing will fall out. I usually keep my student ID, a few dollars, and when I go out and don't wanna bring a full purse I'll stick my debit card in there too! So convenient for college students. My brother started his freshman year at College of Charleston this year and I even convinced him to order one!!

See all the colors here! Mine is grey and pink and my brother got the orange and blue one!

One of my favorite seasons is quickly approaching....FOOTBALL SEASON.

I am constantly looking for comfortable, light, summer dresses that can easily be paired with my boots for game days. While Furman's colors are purple and white, since I'm from the Raleigh area we have always frequented NC State games! This red dress from Julie Brown's new fall collection is the perfect weight for unbearably hot summer days but can also easily be paired with a jacket for cooler fall days that are hopefully around the corner. I love how versatile this dress is and I couldn't be happier with the fit!

Red isn't typically a color I would pick but I decided to step outside my pink and navy usual and go for something a little bit different! Plus every girl needs at least one bright red dress in their closet anyways, right?!

Julie Brown's new fall collection is irresistible. Every time I visit their website I find something new that I need! With fall and football season just around the corner, it's the perfect time to invest in a great new piece for fall or better yet game days!

Anyone else as excited for football games as I am?!

The Perfect Clutch

Between sorority and fraternity formals and functions I feel like I'm always searching for a dress for the next event. The one thing I never take into account when planning my formal and function outfits is CLUTCH. I always seem to remember the jewelry, shoes, and dress part but it always comes time for the event and I realize I own not one clutch that even remotely matches what I'm wearing.

Luckily it's great living in an apt with 3 other girls or even better living on the hall with 40 other girls who all own numerous clutches. Usually, I end up shopping through their closets and borrowing one at the last second and swear to myself that I'm going to buy a clutch or two to add to my collection. I also need to invest in a few great ones for after I graduate and won't be living within 5 feet of all my best friend's closets.

Toss Designs sent me this simple, but adorable clutch to style and obviously I was in love with the pink color block and little bamboo zipper pull. It's perfect because it matches a majority of my wardrobe (which is either navy or pink!). I brought it to my recent trip to Hilton Head to carry my phone and wallet essentials instead of lugging around my whole purse while walking around!

What's your favorite clutch you've ever bought?? Fill me in!!

FDOC! // My Favorite College Memories

My senior year officially starts today. Still wondering where time went. It truly feels like freshman year was just yesterday. I remember my first day of college classes, wondering if I'd ever be able to pass what seemed liked impossible classes, and if I'd ever learn my way around campus. I remember meeting my freshman year roommate for the first time (who has now turned into my roommate of four years!), my first homecoming, and my first college party.

And now I'm entering into my year of lasts. These last 3 years have gone faster than I ever imagined. It's so weird to me that we're now the oldest on campus and the same age as all those seniors I knew freshman year who just seemed so old.

In honor of my last year I thought it would highlight my favorite memory from every year! There have been way to many special memories, but I have to say these are some of my absolute favorites that I'll remember forever!

Freshman Year // Bid Day!

Bid Day freshman year was definitely the highlight of my first year at Furman. I was so excited to join a sorority and immediately fell in love with all the girls in my pledge class. I feel like we were such a cohesive diverse group of girls who all value the same thing and we got a long great from the beginning. It was a day of meeting so many new people and non-stop fun. It's funny to look back now  as Panhellenic President on this day and realize that this was just the beginning of my greek life experience.

Sophomore Year // My Birthday!

You only turn 20 once right?! So so so thankful for great friends who woke me up at 4:45 to cherish every second of my birthday and to take me to watch the sunrise. Definitely one of my favorite college memories! My now boyfriend Emory, even made a video of the whole thing!

Junior Year // Studying Abroad

One of my very best college friends and I studied abroad my first-semester junior year in Italy. We got to travel to a different place every weekend and it was a dream (Santorini was probably my favorite!). It was such a fun semester and one that I will definitely never forget.

Lilly Pulitzer After Part School

IT'S THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR. The Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale is here and you know it's basically Christmas in August. There's not many opportunities to get Lilly Pulitzer on sale so take this opportunity while you can!

Last year you had to get a virtual line before entering the site to avoid the site crashing like it has in numerous previous years. It starts promptly at 8am today and lasts today until Tuesday at 11:59 so get shopping! It's a great way to stock up on summer must-haves before the season ends!

I suggest setting your alarm, creating or updating your account to make an easier checkout, and checking out fast. Here are some of my favorite picks!

Seersucker Summer

My mom and I had the best little trip down to Hilton Head and Savannah. It was kind of a last minute decision but I'm so glad we ended up going. We got to spend time on the beach, ride our bikes down to harbour town, explore Savannah, and even do a little shopping! We're back from our quick trip and reality has set in. I'm leaving for school on Wednesday so it's crunch time to finish everything on my to-do list and pack everything up! I'm looking back at these photos wishing we were still there...

My new Lauren James seersucker dress was the perfect weight for South Carolina in the summer. I've always been a sucker for seersucker (I even say that in my bio!) so this dress was no exception. The bow in the back is absolutely adorable and probably my favorite part of the dress! I'll take it in every color please! :)

I've been trying to fit as much in as I can while I'm home! This week was filled with a lot of errands and little things to get ready for school. We also celebrated my dad's 50th birthday and watched A LOT of Olympics! I've gotten really into them. Oh and on Sunday morning Emory also drove up and surprised me for a quick visit! So sweet <3

Yesterday my mom and I drove down to one of my favorite places, Hilton Head Island! I've come to HHI since I was born and it simply never gets old. My mom grew up coming down and my grandparents spend half the year down here! So it's definitely a special place.

I try to squeeze a trip in as often as possible but with college and then working at various internships for the past 4 summers it's been hard the past few years. So I'm so excited I could fit this short trip in. Tomorrow we are taking a day trip to Savannah (I've never been!) and I'm so excited. If you have any recommendations, please let me know.

There's no doubt that this weekend will be filled with bike riding, beach sitting, and walks around harbor town. We will probably head back Sunday and then I only have a quick turn around before heading back to school on Wednesday. Where the heck did summer go?!

From my dad's birthday dinner this week!

Okay....this video, tears.

Eyeing this top and this top this week.

I made the vineyard vines home page this week! Scroll over on the home to see me!

I'm posting my #ootd everyday for 10 days over on Instagram! Have you seen?

This was fun to read about Team USA's leotards!

It makes my heart happy when I see all the USA athletes get so emotional after winning.

In the market for a new home? This one is perfect in my book.

Happy Birthday Dad!!

Happy 50th Birthday to the most fun-loving, supportive, and inspirational Dad. I'm so lucky to have a Dad that is always my biggest cheerleader and never fails to make me laugh. He served our country for over 20 years and I can't be more thankful for the for the life he's given me.

Happy Birthday dad, I hope you have the best day ever!

Some fun pictures for old times sake....

Do we look alike?? Some people say we look like twins!

Happy birthday again, Dad! Love you!

P.S. I'm headed to Hilton Head and Savannah today! I've never been to Savannah and would love some recommendations! Tweet me (@prepavenue), comment on this post, or comment on an insta (@prepavenue) if you have any suggestions!

NYC Reflection

I've now been back in the Carolinas for a little over a week. I wanted a little time to think about my summer in the city before I shared all my thoughts and reflection from the summer.

I lived right by the Brooklyn bridge on the Manhattan side so I walked over it a few times!

I imagined myself moving to New York right after college since before I even started college. My friends and I even wrote letters to ourselves on the last day of freshman year to open the day before graduation. I vividly remember writing "I hope you're heading to New York to follow your dreams." I always envisioned myself packing up my stuff and starting my adulthood life in the city that never sleeps.

But dreams change right? And now that "after college" is approaching fast and I have to think about what I really want to be living and doing in a year.

Living and working in New York changed my perspective a little bit. The glamour of the city that's present when you're touring around starts to fade and the realities of living in a city with 8 million other people start to hit you...and hit you hard.

The island of Manhattan is an island like no other. Every corner is packed with culture, excitement, and buildings higher than you can see. And at some times it felt overwhelming. I felt like there was nowhere I could go to escape the hustle and bustle. I missed the independence of having my car and being able to roll down the windows, blast the music, and just drive.

Top of the Rock!

I started to really appreciate the hospitality of the south and the magic that I found in Paris last summer. I missed people smiling to me and saying good morning and I missed the Parisian style.

Someone mentioned to me that you have to be strong in order to live in New York City. While I completely agree, it doesn't mean I'm not strong for possibly not wanting to live there. People change, and there's no question that I'm a different person than the little 19 year old girl who wrote that letter freshman year.

My mom came to visit for the 4th of July! Dress details here

There's no doubt that I'm so thankful to have had the opportunity I had this summer. I enjoyed my internship and learned a lot. I learned a lot about myself, what I want to do and be in the future. And just because New York might not be the city for me right now, doesn't mean it might not be right for me in the future.

Last day of work in the showroom!

It definitely wasn't a summer wasted. I learned some invaluable lessons that really taught me a lot about myself and what I want in the future. I created some great memories and so many people came and visited me!

Thank you New York for a summer of adventure and life lessons.

What you Should Always Keep in Your Backpack

With back to school right around the corner (where the heck did summer go?!) I thought I would do a little back to school post. Especially since a backpack is pretty much a must no matter what age!

Books and a laptop are a given in your backpack, but adding a few of the items below can make your semester easier and less stressful when things get chaotic (as they always do!). My mom's purse is the size of a backpack and despite all the teasing, she always has what we need and it makes life's little emergencies much less stressful! Make your backpack the backpack version of the Mary Poppin's bag!
1. Phone Charger
2. Pen
3. Headphones
4. Tampons
5. $5 Bill (just in case)
6. Hair Tie
7. Band Aids
8. Hand Sanitizer
9. Gum
10. Granola Bar (never know when you're going to need a snack!)

What do you always make sure is in your backpack? Let me know so I can add it to the list!
