Trip to LA

I heard a quote once, I think it was on Say Yes To The Dress honestly, that high school is about finding your bridesmaids rather than your groom. While it may not work out that way for everyone and not to say that I didn't meet some of my closest friends in college butttt I did meet some really special friends in high school.

Danee and I actually met on the first day of 8th grade in P.E. class while playing dodgeball (so not technically high school but close!). I was the new girl and had just moved from Germany but strangely Danee approached me mid-game and asked to hide behind me. Ironic because I'm about 8 inches shorter than her but despite that, I agreed.

The next quarter of P.E. together we were always buddies. We stuck together for every game and were always partners for every activity. Our friends quickly became friends and suddenly we were hanging out all the time outside of gym class. We also lived 17 houses apart and would commonly hang out in the neighborhood too.

Fast forward 9 years, we still talk just about every day. Both growing up as military kids across the world we were used to moving every three years, but it didn't make it any easier when I moved after my sophomore year. I moved only 2 1/2 hours down the road to Raleigh and then Danee moved to Hawaii after her junior year which made it a little harder to see each frequently.

We now both just graduated college (on the same day!) on different coasts. Somehow we have managed to see each other at least every summer and frequently during Christmas break too! While I constantly wish we didn't live so far apart it was nice to go to different schools and rant (and complain) about things going on at our own schools to each other. We always had something to talk about and it was fun to hear about each others college experiences.

Now as we both head into the real world (?!?!) we're probably going to be on different coats for another few years. But after 9 years of friendship, and 6 years long distance, I have no doubt that we will continue to be friends for years to come.

...

I flew out to visit Danee last Monday and spent the week with her in LA! I had never been to Los Angeles and I was so excited for Danee to show me her school and where she has lived for the past 4 years. I was only there for 3 full days (I got in late Monday night and flew out Friday morning) but we fit sooo much in in such a short amount of time. We didn't make it everywhere but we hit so many iconic LA spots and never stopped moving!

Day One

We jumped all around town the first day and took pictures on the pink Paul Smith wall, spent a lot of time on Rodeo Drive (window) shopping, had a yummy late lunch on Rodeo Dr., visisted and walked around the Venice canals, toured Danee's school, and ended the day with ice cream in Venice!

Day Two

We spent all day Wednesday at Disneyland! I had been dying to go so we woke up early, got fresh bagels on the way, and then spent the rest of the day either standing in line, riding rides, or eating junk food! I also wore my favorite tennis skirt ever and swear by it.

Day Three

We spent a majority of Thursday at the Warner Brothers studio tour. It was so much fun to see the sets of so many iconic shows and get the full behind the scenes look onto what it's really like to film such big movies and tv shows. Plus I got to see places where scenes from Gilmore Girls had been filmed and sit on the Friends couch!!! At the end of the tour they also a full service Central Perk coffee shop so of course we had to get a drink. After the tour we got a late lunch and headed to The Beverly Hills Hotel to walk around the pink and green dreamland.

While it was so much fun to explore LA, it was even more fun to get to spend some quality time with my best friend! We only get to see each other a few times a year so it's nice that we can immediately pick up where we left off and have so much fun together.

Hopefully we'll get to see each other one more time this summer and I can't wait when she makes the trip to come visit me in my new home in Savannah in the fall!

Remember,

xoxo
