Don't Make Summer End...

Don't Make Summer End...

It may be the last day of day of August, but summers in the South run way past Labor Day weekend. When most are pulling out their scarves and sweaters I'll still be pulling on my shorts and sunscreen. Which, in fact, happens to be a good thing for a person like me who never wants summer to end.

I will say however, the only reason I'm slightly looking forward to cooler days is having my curls last longer than 15 minutes outside.

Besides the hair situation, I'm all in to sign a petition to make summer stay forever. Everyone seems so much happier, friendlier, and overall nicer in the summer. I hate feeling cooped up inside all winter long and running from building to building to get in the heat. Oh and don't even remind me about carrying jackets around.

While the fashion world may have already jumped head first into Fall, it is still 90 degrees here so I refuse to put my white pants and shorts away just yet. These shorts are just so stickin' adorable and were too good to pass up. Although they're shorts, I think the chambray fabric makes them easy to transition into fall and could be paired with a cute sweater. This adorable top (that keeps selling out and coming back) is super affordable and can really be paired with so many things.

Oh my I almost forgot to talk about my shoes. I bought them on a whim and I think you're going to get sick of seeing them because I'm going to wear them so much this Fall. I'm absolutely obsessed. That is all.

Apartment Update!

Apartment Update!

Y'ALL.

I move into my apartment in Savannah NEXT WEEK. I'm so excited to take you on this ride with me as I move into my very first apartment and begin graduate school. I'm nervous to take on a new city all by myself but equally excited to see whats in store for me the next year.

While I'm so excited to move in, I'm not excited to do the actual moving part. Currently we have a very large pile of my stuff in the garage just waiting to be packed up. I'm not exactly the lightest of packers....

Since this is my first apartment I really just had the stuff I had in my bedroom last year. The desk, dresser, and bed were from the school so most of my stuff was purely decorative. A lot of the furniture for my new apartment such as my coffee table, side tables, and chair for my living room were found at flea markets or were old furniture that neighbors were giving away. I spent a lot of time this summer giving some of those pieces a good cleaning and fresh coat of paint! Plus it was a great way to save some money on furniture that I would have had to buy anyways.

Some of the rest of the furniture that wasn't passed down and that knew I needed to buy I made sure I did my research before I clicked the order button. I spent a lot of time searching online to find things I liked yet that didn't break the bank. Target was a frequent winner as well as Wayfair!

I splurged on a few pieces like this desk chair and the pillows for my couch because I loved them both and knew I would have both for a long time. I'm so excited to get everything in and see how it all looks together. I'm far from an interior decorator but I hoping it will at least feel homey and feel like me!

We're driving down there Thursday of next week and after that it's a whirlwind of moving, orientation, and classes starting! Don't worry pictures will come but be sure to following along on Instagram to get a first look.

Until then, here are some of the pieces that will be making the trip from Raleigh to Savannah with me!

Lilly Pulitzer After Sale Favorites

Lilly Pulitzer After Sale Favorites

Now that it's finally calmed down and you don't have to wait over an hour (!!!) to get into the online sale I thought I would check back in and share my personal favorites that are still in shock and available in most sizes!

A big thumbs up goes to Lilly this year for one of the best sales yet, in my opinion! Although there were long lines, I was impressed that nothing flew out of my cart and most things stayed available in most sizes.

My mom and I shopped in the store the day before and honestly online was easier than in the store! It was so crammed in there which made it hard to find your size and even harder to try things on. I ended up getting this adorable pair of shorts, these bright pink shorts, and this tennis skirt (I'm obsessed with their tennis skirts).

 Shop this romper!

What did you score from the sale?!

Classic Lilly Pieces

Classic Lilly Pieces

As long as you haven't been living under a rock and haven't checked social media in days then I'm sure you know that this morning starts Lilly Pulitzer's annual After Party Sale. While waiting in the virtual line can take forever and getting up early isn't ideal, this is the perfect way to steal some classic Lilly pieces on major markdown.

I am a huge Lilly Lover. It's funny to look back at some of my old shift dresses from the beginning of high school to see how the brand and my style has changed over the years. I love the bright, bold colors and how happy it makes me just wearing it! It's such a cheerful clothing brand!

However, while the bright pinks and oranges are always fun I have also been trying to add more of their classic styles to my wardrobe so it's slightly more versatile and possibly even something I can wear into the office one day.

To celebrate the big Lilly day I snapped some pictures in two of my favorite pieces. I'm writing this the night before so I'm not sure if the skirt or tank will be included in the sale BUT be sure to check back later tonight because I will be rounding up some of my favorite finds from the sale and showing them to you all (update: the skirt is included in the sale!!!)!

I would be lying to you if I said I haven't worn this outfit to multiple dinners already. "SHANNON HESSEN YOU ARE AN OUTFIT REPEATER" (Lizzie McGuire anyone?!).

I love love love this skirt. The slit in the front makes it look and feel a little different than the typical Lilly skorts and kinda adds some sass to it. Plus the gold zipper detailing on the back doesn't hurt either. However, we can't downplay this amazing silk tank. It's so easy to throw on with just about anything and it's just formal enough. It goes perfectly under a jacket or nicely tucked into a skirt! I'll take one in every color please!

Don't forget to shop the sale today and stop back later to see my picks!

Lots of exciting events this week between the eclipse, the Taylor Swift madness, and the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale date! So much to be excited about!

I was down in Columbia with Emory for the eclipse which was super exciting because we were in the path of totality. It was cooler than I ever imagined and I couldn't believe what I was experiencing. Casey, the popular YouTuber captured it perfectly and was in Columbia just like me!

If you're anywhere close to the path of totality to the eclipse happening in 2024 you have to drive to it!

Happy Friday!

My favorite kind of breakfast :)

Lots of heart eyes for this spectacular Charleston wedding.

Don't forget to shop the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale on Saturday!

So much blue and white and I'm in LOVE.

Taylor Swift practically broke the internet with her new song and here's an analysis of the new lyrics!

An exclusive tour of the new KJP flagship store.

First look at Season Two of This Is Us. Ekkk so excited!!!

Reese is on the cover of Southern Living!

I've been following artist Kayce Hughes for a while now but had no idea she is the niece of Lilly P!

Make sure check out the Shopbop Sale.

Shopbop Sale!

Shopbop Sale!

Between the excitement of the eclipse, the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale, and the Taylor Swift news this amazing Shopbop sale has kinda slipped under everyone's radar. Which is unfortunate, because it's a GOOD ONE.

So many pieces that I've swooned over all summer but I haven't been brave enough to pull the trigger are included. I know the season is quickly coming to an end and most people are now in the market for fall clothes but the best time to buy summer clothes is NOW because everything is getting marked down!

You can't see my dress super well in this picture (my memory card broke and I lost all my photos from this formal), but this adorable one shoulder dress is included in the sale. It's adorable for summer parties and wore it more times than I can count!

So many other favorites from the sale. I'm really eyeing this skirt, this shirt, this dressthese shoes, and this bathing suit!

Amazing, Affordable, & Adorable Amazon Finds

Amazing, Affordable, & Adorable Amazon Finds

I am an Amazon addict.

It was especially convenient when I was at school and would go a week or so without leaving campus. I would order simple things I needed and could just pick them up at our school mail room! It was always amusing to see how many other Amazon boxes were sitting on the selves and comforting to know I wasn't the only one addicted.

They seriously make it way too easy with that one click order button! Besides the typical toiletries and snacks I order Amazon really does have some super fun products. I am way too guilty of ordering last minutes gifts for people and costumes for school events. That free 48 hour shipping has saved me too many times.

Everything Ginger Jar

Everything Ginger Jar

It's no secret that I have a blue and white obsession. My go to outfit is always a navy and white striped shirt and I live by the motto "navy or nothing". It probably obvious through most of my outfits and definitely in my apartment decor

Going right along with my love for blue and white is my affinity with all things ginger jars. I feel like just about everyone is obsessed with the jars and they're totally trending right now. Which is a little funny, because in reality, they're just jars and have been around for forever. But I've hopped on the bandwagon and love them just as much as the next preppy girl. Home Goods and Target is filled with blue and white jars right now which is perfect timing considering I'm hunting for affordable decor for my new apartment.

I promise you one thing, there will be no shortage of blue and white in my new apartment.

Shades of Blue

Shades of Blue

Happy Eclipse Day everyone! I hope everyone has their glasses ready!

After helping move my brother into his sophomore dorm room at College of Charleston I drove to Columbia to spend a few days with Emory before school starts for him. Luckily for me, Columbia is in the path of totality so hopefully, we'll have a great view of this once and a lifetime event.

It's funny to me how into it everyone is. Businesses are closing early, special t-shirts have been made to commemorate the event, and black cupcakes and donuts are being sold in the grocery stores. Maybe it's just because we're in the totality path but I love everyone's excitement!!

....

Anyways, onto the outfit. I picked out this shirt when I was at the J. Crew Factory outlet and it's going to be perfect for school. It's nice because it can be easily paired with jeans or shorts and can be transitioned for a cooler weather with a simple jean jacket thrown over. PLUS it's only $35!! Serious steal.

AND THE BACK.....ridiculously cute.
