2 Ways To Style Hunter Boots

2 Ways To Style Hunter Boots

Hunter Boots have always been a staple in my wardrobe. Like if I had to pick 5 pairs of shoes to wear for the rest of my life, I would probably pick them as number 4. That's how much I love them.

They're so perfect for rainy days, snow days, or any outdoor adventure. I have a pink pair as well as this navy pair and I'm going to be honest, as much as I love pink, I wear my navy pair 10 times more than the pink. My navy blue pair are the packable version so they're SO much lighter than the traditional pair and fold down super easily which makes them great for packing. The traditional version is just so heavy that I can't go back after wearing my packable pair.

Sometimes I secretly look forward to rainy days just so I have an excuse to wear them. Plus you don't have to worry about stepping in a big puddle and walking around all day with wet socks (the worst feeling, am I right?!)

Well today I styled my favorite boots two different ways. As the winter season quickly approaches, if you live in a place that is often covered in snow, I couldn't suggest Hunters more.

...

Look One:

I love pairing my hunters with skirts or dresses. It's probably my favorite way to wear them. And in the winter you can simply add tights for more warmth. It makes me feel like a little gardener if I'm being honest. I have so many blue skirts and dresses so they match so perfectly with many of things I already have.

Look Two

For a simpler look, I threw on a pair of jeans. Slightly more casual, it was still perfect for a day wandering outside and exploring this gorgeous farm right outside of Raleigh!

Travel Bathroom Bag

Travel Bathroom Bag

I think everyone can agree that the worst part of any trip is packing.

Unpacking is pretty easy because I just throw everything in my laundry basket lol.

Packing, however, gives me total anxiety. I hate the stress and worry of possibly forgetting something and when I do forget something I get so mad and upset with myself! Hence why I always overpack.

...

So two or three Chrismas' ago my mom gave me a Kate Spade travel bathroom bag stocked with everything I would need for a trip. It already had deodorant, a tooth brush, tooth paste, etc. All I would need to add for any trip was my makeup!

Especially in college when I would back home every few months for a weekend at home it was easy to just grab this travel toiletry bag already stocked with everything I need. It took a lot of stress out of packing because I never had to worry if I had travel size products.

Three years later I still use it for all my trips! I keep it fully stocked in my bathroom closet ready to go. It's big enough that I can fit all of my bathroom products all in one case instead of having multiple small bags of makeup and toiletries.

It's so much easier to have a fully stocked bag that you can grab immediately and be ready for any trip! I took pictures of the inside of mine so you can see everything I keep in it!

If you're in college I can't suggest creating a little travel bathroom bag enough. You're constantly going on small weekend trips between home and Fall break so make it easier on yourself and have a bag prepared!

I also posted this helpful checklist for every trip last week!

Blush Finds

Blush Finds

So I know that blush isn't exactly the first color you think of when you think of Fall but it's such a popular color this year and so many good finds right now that I couldn't help but post some of my favorites. Plus I think all of these things could easily work into a fall wardrobe.

I seriously have all of these things sitting in my online basket waiting to pull the trigger. My top three: these shoes, this jacket, and this trench.

FriYAY! & My First Week of Grad School!

FriYAY! & My First Week of Grad School!

Happy Fall Y'All!!! It's still in the 80s here though so it doesn't feel like Fall quite yet...

Well, I have officially finished up my first week of grad school. Well, kind of. My professor cancelled class on Thursday due to the Jewish holiday so we have a make up class tomorrow (insert tears). Luckily it's not until 11 so I'll still get to sleep in a tad!

It has been quite a whirlwind of a week to say the least. Between moving in, learning my way around a new city, and getting used to classes it has been nonstop. I've already turned in a paper, given presentation, and started work on another paper/ project due next week so there hasn't been much down time. I feel like I've already learned so much and it's only been a week.

I'm going to do a post in a few weeks about my first few weeks as a grad student but so far I have really been enjoying my classes. Lectures aren't so bad when you're talking about trends and predicting the future of retail!

My parents were here for a few days helping me move in and we made a point to take some breaks from organizing and hanging pictures to go explore. There are so many adorable little parts of this city and I can't wait to explore more. I think my favorite so far has been a trolley tour that we did the morning of my first day of classes. We learned so many cool history facts!

Did you know the founder of Girl Scouts was born here in Savannah and you can buy Girl Scout cookies year round in the carriage house of her old house?! Dangerous...

Anyways, this weekend will probably be pretty relaxed. I am going to try to get a lot of work done and get somewhat ahead for next week. I'm struggling with one of my upcoming research papers so I know that will probably take up a large chunk of my time. Between assignments though I'm hoping to fit in the newest Bold Type episode, I'm hooked to say the least!

On my radar this week...

Fun Finds:
1. I'm obsessed with just about everything included in this wedding.
2. Fall foliage map!
3. What's leaving Netflix come October
4. Behind the scenes video of Taylor's newest music video
5. What it's really like to be on Fixer Upper with Chip and Jo

Shop:
1. THESE SHOES
2. Adorable sweater under $35
3. These shoes are adorable

Fashion News:
1. Long time Glamour editor announces her resignation
2. Is Nordstrom's newest store a clue about what retail will look like in the future?
3. Did you hear you will be able to drop off your Amazon returns at your nearest Kohls (if you live in certain cities)?!

Favorite Shows to Binge Watch

Favorite Shows to Binge Watch

My very best friend got her undergrad degree in screenwriting so I rely on her to keep me updated with all things film related. I have the worst move memory ever, so it's not uncommon for me to hear people talking about what sounds like a familiar movie and then me text her to ask her if I've seen it.  And if I have, could she can please remind me what it's about. She's seen just about every movie and every TV show under the sun so she's a good resource to have.

I'm not a huge binge watcher but when I do find a good new show, it's hard to resist.

Notable Mentions:

Gilmore Girls // This will always and forever be my favorite series. I can go back and watch any episode from any season and love it just as much as the first time I watched it. If you've never seen it, you need to go ahead and start asap. It's about a young single mom and daughter growing up and living in a small town in Connecticut. Their banter back and forth and witty comments are too good to miss.

Sex & The City // Sex & The City will always be a classic. It's a fun girly show about 4 best friends living in NYC and figuring out life together. The episodes are always so much fun and definitely entertaining. My favorite part may have been the outfits.

How I Met Your Mother // I started watching How I Met Your Mother during my summer in Paris. I tried to take advantage of all my free time after work but some days I was so tired from working all day I would come back to my small dorm room and watch an episode (or two or three) during dinner and before bed. The show follows a group of friends in NYC and the story is told from the future as one of the main characters tells his children about how he met their mother. It's so comical and just a cute show overall.

The Bold Type // I just started watching this recently and they haven't even finished the first season yet but I'm already hooked. It reminds me so much of my internship at Conde Nast in Paris and makes me want to go back to working in the magazine industry even more. Three best friends are the main characters and they work at a large magazine in NYC.

This Is Us // OKAY. If you haven't watched this yet...drop your plans. Cutest, sweetest, most emotional show ever. It follows three siblings, triplets (well kinda) and their families. The show is truly just stunning and the second season is airing soon!!

What's your favorite show to watch?

Fall Must Haves

Fall Must Haves

I'm going to be honest here, I'm not the biggest fan of fall.

I have nothing personally against it, I definitely like far more winter, but I usually dread the arrival of Fall as that means summer (aka free time) is over and it's back the reality of school.

However, this year I have been slightly more excited for Fall's arrival. I'm in no way running to Starbucks every morning to go get myself a pumpkin spice latte but I'm excited to pull out my favorite riding boots and my J. Crew vests.

While I do love all the Fall clothes, my favorite thing about Fall is all the festive activities. I love going apple picking in the mountains, going on hayrides, hiking to see the changing leaves, but most of all, I love love love Football season. Although Furman didn't have the best football team, nothing compares to spending your Saturday tailgating with friends and rooting for your team. Not to mention I'm a huge Michigan fan and always love rooting for them.

These Fall must haves are truly my favorite products that I can't live in without during the Fall season. All of the products I included are truly my favorite season after season!

My Favorite Artists

My Favorite Artists

I am officially an art school student. Which is funny looking back because in middle school I was one of the only students in my class to get a B in 8th art class. My perfectionist tendencies always got to me and I was my own worst critic.

Despite my struggles in 8th grade art, I've always been a super creative person. Not so much in a painting or drawing way, but in a more organized digital way. I love love love graphic design and I like to joke that all my artistic skills are limited to the computer.

I'm excited to get older and start collecting pieces of art and photography that I truly love. It's my dream to own a big print of this photo one day! I've had a major crush on it for years now and I actually saw it in person in an art store on Worth Ave on Palm Beach. It was even prettier in person! One day...I'll have it hanging in my house.

I don't necessarily need to own pieces that are thousands and thousands of dollars or one of a kind pieces I just want art that makes me happy!

If it's not evident by everything else I do I love color!!!!! The brighter the better. I have a few favorite artists that I always go back to and I thought I would share a few of my favorites with you.

1. Evelyn Henson

Evelyn is my favorite print artist! Everything she does is so colorful and overall so happy. She is also a fellow Furman grad so she has a special place in my heart. She graduated the year I came so our time never overlapped but I actually got to meet her in Charlotte one time. I love everything she does and have many of her prints hanging all over my apartment!

2.  Megan Carn

I'm a sucker for bright animal paintings and that's exactly Megan's specialty. I love everything about Megan's style of painting. Her Flamingo paintings are my absolute favorite but everything she does is to die for. She lives in Columbia, SC so I got to meet her last year at Columbia's signature Lilly store. She is the sweetest person ever which makes her paintings that much more special!

3. Gray Malin

I think just about everyone has a love affair with Gray's famous beach photography. Gray Malin is most known for his many colorful aerial photographs of beaches around the world. I love seeing all the colorful umbrellas and beach towels. I don't own any of his photographs but his coffee table book is one of my favorites!

4. Inslee

A NYC based artist and illustrator, Inslee's work is stunning. I have 2 of her prints (including the one above) hanging in my living room and I'm obsessed with how they look. She paints everything from fashion to butterflies to flowers!

5. Shelby Dillon

A more recent find, Shelby Dillon is basically the painter version of Gray Malin! She has beautiful aerial paintings of big colorful beach umbrellas that could brighten up any room! They are all stunning and I'm dying to add one to my collection!

Who are your favorite artists?

Packing Checklist!

Packing Checklist!

I LOVE TRAVELING.

As type A as I am and love control, routines, and schedules, I surprisingly love love love traveling (especially in Europe).  I really discovered my love of traveling as early as 5th grade. We received military orders to Germany when I was 10 and luckily my parents decided to use our three years there as an opportunity to travel.

We used every long weekend or time off of school as a chance to go see a new place. Whether it was a small weekend trip to a walled city in Germany or spring break in Egypt, we were always adventuring. I loved every second.

I didn't realize how good I had it until I moved back to the states after 7th grade and realized we couldn't take a 4-hour car ride to Paris. My travel bug never went away. As I started to look for college the first question I would always ask on tours was about their study abroad programs. I knew I had to get back to the continent I loved so much and would do anything possible to make it a reality.

I ended up studying abroad for a semester in Italy during the Fall of my junior year! It was a dream a long time in the making and I cherished every second of jumping from country to country every weekend.

...

So after all that travel experience, you'd think I'd be good at packing, right?! WRONG.

I'm terrible. I'm the worst over packer ever and get extremely anxious that I am going to forget something. And then when I do forget something, I get so angry at myself and wonder how the heck I could forget it!

I created a checklist on my phone a while ago that I check before I leave on a trip anywhere. It has all the small little things on it that I would commonly forget. I decided to share it with you all that way you can visit it before you head out on a fun adventure.
Pin this picture for later so you can always easily reference it!

It's officially my last weekend of summer...and I'm spending it unpacking! Super fun right?!

I start school on Monday and I know that once I start it will just get busier so I'm trying to get as organized as I can before classes start. While I'm excited to start this new journey, I know it will just be non stop from here on out.

A Look Back At My Dorm Rooms

A Look Back At My Dorm Rooms

Today I finally move into my new apartment. It seems like the moving process has lasted forever since we were all packed up and ready to go this time last week when Irma decided to change our plans.

I'm hoping I packed everything I need and if not, that's what Amazon Prime and Target runs are for, right?!

I'm using a fair amount of things I already had (like my bedding) but there were also things like a couch that I had to purchase because I didn't have one before. So after a summer of all of it sitting in our bonus room and attic, I'm so excited to finally see all the furniture together and in the space.

I'm definitely not interior designer but I like to think I've watched enough HGTV shows (mostly Chip and Jo) to kinda know what I'm doing. It's funny to look back on my rooms from the last 4 years and see how much style changed. I thought in honor of moving into my graduate apartment today I thought it would be fun to take a little walk down memory lane!
